Catching Up To Speed (9/30/2012)

Though it has always been a focus of ours we are putting a major emphasis on customer support and involvement this year. With the addition of a marketing specialist to our Double A Vineyards team we are addressing more customer concerns and expanding our online presence in an effort to be more available to our customers and help them have a successful growing experience.
Because most customer calls and questions involve many of the same problems we experience ourselves, such as this years late frost or dry summer we are continually compiling notes and performing research and tests that can help ease your growing pains. We have provided you with an extensive Learn section on our website which includes, diagrams, guidelines, tests and techniques along with university resources on every topic you could think of from Grape Variety Information to Winemaking, and Training and Pruning to Trellising Information and Supplies.
Currently we are working on updating Pest control, Training Systems and other helpful diagrams. Within the next few months we will have complete diagrams for each of our identified training systems (hand drawn by our newly hired Marketing Specialist, highlighted below) as well as an array of small scale chemicals needed for vineyard and pest management added to the available products for purchase.
Our new Marketing Specialist, Danielle has also began a few more initiatives to keep customers involved including the Daily Cultivation Project on Facebook giving our customers inside access to the goings on of our farm/nursery. We started this project in an effort to give customers a better idea of what we do and what it takes to get their products ready for them year to year.
We are also working on revamping our Grower Forum to a more user friendly and customized layout serving as an alternative venue for more specific questions and concerns as presented by the customers. The forum will also be constantly monitored and posted to with the addition of extra help to our team.
Rick Dunst (our Viticulturist) will continue his efforts at addressing major topics through our newsletter and answering emails and phone calls for imminent concerns. Having worked for Cornells Lake Erie Research and Extension Laboratory at CLEREL and running a vineyard himself he is very knowledgeable and very busy! Doing consultation with Double A as well as working full time and providing additional consultation to other companies Rick very rarely has idle time. Last winter his efforts were even taken to Brazil for outside consultation!
