Description:
Barbera produces good yields, and is known for deep color, low tannins, and high acidity when grown in hot climates. Barbera produces an intense red wine, with a fruity, floral nose and distinct flavor of red fruits and black cherries. Many producers use toasted oak barrels, which provide a high level of complexity, aging potential, and hints of vanilla. Barbera-based wines tend to go with Italian food such as antipasto, pasta with tomato or vegetable sauce, and pizza.
