Description:
Frontenac is an extremely cold hardy, red wine grape. It has been used to produce dry red wine, rose', and port. The deep colored wines have cherry, blackberry, black currant and plum notes that pair well with hearty foods such as duck, pheasant, lamb, beef, pasta dishes made with tomato and eggplant; also with flavor ingredients such as: pepper, mushrooms, black olives, and herbs (mint, thyme, rosemary). Frontenac produces grapes with high sugar and high acidity, so acid reducing techniques are often used by the winemaker.
