Pinot Gris is a lighter-skinned mutation of Pinot Noir that produces small clusters of berries ranging in color from pink, to coppery-gray, to brown-ish pink, even within the same cluster. The grapes make a honey colored, richly flavored wine smooth on the palate. Flavors can range from melon to pear and some even offer a subtle tropical or citrus fruit. Pinot Gris is known as the "salmon wine", and should be consumed with salmon, other seafood, and light pastas.
